How did you end up in the world of timber construction?

Back then, I completed my internship semester as a wood engineer in Aichach and have kept in touch with my colleagues over the years. My gut feeling told me that I would work there again at some point. And so it was! In March 2014, I started my new role in the sales team. And since then, I've been contributing to different construction projects in various roles. I was also born into the industry, as my father is also a passionate carpenter and architect. I grew up on building sites, so to speak.

What are you bringing with you?

I am a trained carpenter and then studied timber engineering at the HAWK in Hildesheim. After my studies, I gained experience in planning and construction management and was self-employed for a few years with a timber construction company. As a large company with many structures and opportunities, ZÜBLIN Timber gave me the opportunity to rejoin the team and change my career.

What do you do in acquisition?

I advise and communicate our services. I mainly talk to architects, engineers, property developers and tradespeople. We discuss the system solutions as well as the statics and building physics requirements of the timber construction projects. This is followed by tailor-made offers, some of which I calculate myself or have calculated by our calculation team. The close exchange with our internal teams, e.g. calculation and technical office, is part of the daily routine. As I live in northern Germany, I specifically look after customers in the northern half of Germany.

What excites you about your job?

I have a passion for building with wood and am interested in modern construction methods and future industry trends. We are facing major challenges in construction as a whole, as in many other areas. I find this change and the processes behind it incredibly exciting! Even during my studies, I was convinced that "more is possible" in timber construction and construction in general. Being able to contribute to this, develop ideas and inspire people to build with wood is what drives me!

What do you like about ZÜBLIN Timber?

The company never stands still. For me, the company is characterized by its openness to new developments and continuous improvement. I also like the fact that you get a lot of insight into the different areas of the company and the entire Group. This greatly enriches your own skills.

What career tip would you give your younger self?

Time travel back to the time after my studies: I would complete the trainee program at ZÜBLIN Timber! Here you gain insights into various areas and departments of the company, you can test yourself to see where your strengths and weaknesses lie and draw further conclusions for your future career.

How do you recharge your batteries?

I like to find my balance from my job with the material wood. I really enjoy doing handicraft work in my free time. Once a craftsman, always a craftsman.
