ZÜBLIN-CUP 2024 in Leipzig

• Soccer - A day full of excitement and top sporting performances
• 32 teams, 86 matches

The Directorate East was the proud host of the ZÜBLIN Cup 2024 this year. 32 teams and their fans from all over Germany and Austria traveled to Leipzig last Friday to experience an unforgettable soccer tournament in the Alfred Kunze Stadium under bright sunshine.

The starting signal was given at 9.30 a.m. and 86 exciting team duels were played on a total of four small pitches. The teams fought hard but fairly for the coveted title.
Shortly before 4 p.m., the eagerly awaited final match between BadenPower and Heilbronn United took place. In an intense duel, BadenPower prevailed with a 2:0 victory and won the trophy.
The match for third place showed just how exhausting the entire tournament was. Plagued by calf cramps and pulled muscles, the two teams, Building Maintenance and Engineering & Infrastructure Construction, made a collegial decision not to play the game and instead let a coin decide.
The ZÜBLIN-Timber team finished in a solid 18th place, which we are all very proud of!

In the evening, the great atmosphere was crowned with a festive award ceremony. Stephan von der Heyde, CEO of Ed. Züblin AG, Wolfgang Kreis, Chairman of the Works Council, and Gerald Endlich, Director of the Eastern Directorate, honored the winners. All teams were called to the stage with personal theme songs to receive their trophies and team photos.
A special highlight was the crowning of the top scorer. As there were five scorers who each scored four goals in the tournament, an extra challenge was organized. Marvin Fricke from the Braunschweig Lions came out on top with the most touches of the ball within 30 seconds and was awarded the top scorer trophy.

After the award ceremony, everyone celebrated and danced the night away. The mood was at its peak when Stephan von der Heyde announced that a soccer cup would be held again next year and revealed that the Stuttgart head office would be the next host.
