ZÜBLIN Timber celebrates inauguration of new headquarters in Aichach

- T3 timber hybrid office building from ZÜBLIN Timber offers a modern working environment
- Predominant use of the climate-friendly building material wood and renewable energy supply
ZÜBLIN Timber has officially opened its new T3 headquarters on the company premises in Aichach. The five-storey office building is characterized by its cubic architecture and stands for the combination of a modern workplace concept and sustainable timber hybrid construction.
A pioneering new building with wood
"As a climate-friendly building material, wood is at the heart of the construction project. The new ZÜBLIN Timber headquarters is an excellent example of the sustainable planning and construction of the future, which we are consistently promoting throughout the Group," says ZÜBLIN CEO Stephan von der Heyde. "Thanks to the high degree of prefabrication of the construction elements used for the ceilings, walls and façades, the building was completed in September 2024 after a construction period of just 15 months and will now offer our employees a state-of-the-art working environment," adds Simon Pfeffer, Technical Division Manager at ZÜBLIN Timber.
The office building was built to the Efficiency House Standard 40 and therefore meets all the requirements of the EU taxonomy for sustainable investments. The construction site was also awarded the pre-certificate of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
Sustainable concept with short distances
The new building makes the sustainability strategy in ZÜBLIN Timber's construction visible with the predominant use of wood, such as 450 m3 of LENO® cross laminated timber for the ceilings and 165 m³ of glulam for columns and beams. Cradle-to-cradle products are also used in this process in order to take the principles of the circular economy into account.
A total of approx. 720 m3 of PEFC-certified wood was used in T3. The 450 m3 of LENO® cross laminated timber in the building has been awarded the "Holz von Hier" label, which certifies the use of wood from regional, sustainably managed forests. This certification stands for short transportation routes and an environmentally friendly processing chain. ZÜBLIN Timber has been a member of "Holz von Hier" since 2021.
The T3 also relies on sustainable solutions for its energy supply: The heating and cooling ceiling modules are powered by renewable energy. Cooling is provided by an adiabatic cooling system that uses evaporative cooling, while the heat supply is covered by a wood chip system produced in-house. A photovoltaic system on the green flat roof covers part of the electricity requirements and rounds off the ecological energy concept.
Modern working environments in the "New Work" concept
The T3 provides a total of 123 workstations, which follow the "New Work" concept. The innovative room layout combines separate rooms with open, spacious desk-sharing areas that can be flexibly adapted at any time. This modern office environment supports an agile way of working and promotes exchange and collaboration within the teams.
