The annual ZÜBLIN Cup took place on Friday, 13.6.25. This time, the venue was the "Stadion Festwiese" in Stuttgart Bad Cannstatt, opposite the VFB Stuttgart stadium.
36 teams from the various directorates competed against each other in hot, imperial weather. The game was played with 7 against 7 players, consisting of 1 goalkeeper and 6 outfield players. The length of the games varied from 10 minutes in the group phase and later 15 minutes in the finals.
Team players
The Holzhacker team was made up of the players Nico Lutz, Florian Ebel, Wolfgang Winter (Head of Controlling Stuttgart), Gabriel Petrus, Fatlum Talla (Techn. Jan-Ole Bergmann, Thomas Högg, Marco Altmann, Emre Aygün, Sarah Reißner (goalkeeper), Felix Grüger, Patrick Fischer, David Burghart
Moving preliminary rounds and semi-finals
There was a lively and motivated atmosphere on the pitch right from the start. Our team impressed in the preliminary round with strong performances and qualified for the final round in first place in Group D with 11 points.
The Holzhackers won the round of 16 against Zinédine SIDane (SID Stuttgart) 4:0. In the quarter-finals, the Kolleg:innen won 2:1 against Bodenseekicker.
The performance of our goalkeeper Sarah was particularly strong in the semi-final, which we played against Ingenieur- und Infrastrukturbau. The relatively evenly matched game could not be decided after 15 minutes of play. In the subsequent nine-metre shoot-out, Sarah saved 3 out of 5 kicks and helped our team into the final!
Final
The final between the Holzhackers and the MC Kickers from Cologne was the highlight of the day. Both teams showed great commitment right from the start and were on an equal footing. The spectators/colleagues cheered the teams on loudly and created a great atmosphere.
The Holzhackers were twice in the lead, which the MC Kickers were able to equalize twice and the game ended 2:2 after 15 minutes.
We won the exciting penalty shoot-out 6:5 n.E.!
Honors and celebrations
After the successful match day, the teams gathered in the impressive Phoenixhalle in the Römerkastell Stuttgart for refreshments and the award ceremony.
Our CEO Stephan von der Heyde, together with the head of management Martin Berhausen, presented the trophies and certificates to the beaming winners and emphasized the fair sporting spirit and great performances.
The delicious, refreshing buffet and live music by the ZÜBLIN group band from the Northern Directorate in Hamburg created a fantastic party atmosphere with a great atmosphere.
The Holzhacker are already looking forward to the tournament as defending champions in Frankfurt next year - but for now the challenge cup is staying with us!
Conclusion
The ZÜBLIN-CUP 2025 was an extraordinary event, characterized by impressive sporting achievements, strong team spirit and cohesion within the company. The wood chippers can rightly celebrate their well-deserved triumph, while all the participating teams can be proud of their impressive achievements. Everyone is already looking forward to the next edition of this fantastic tournament.
