IPAI Campus: STRABAG subsidiary ZÜBLIN realizes major contract at the Innovation Park for Artificial Intelligence (IPAI)
- ZÜBLIN brings expertise in high-tech buildings to Europe's only innovation park in Heilbronn
- Sustainable space for research, development and application of AI technologies is being created on around 30 hectares
- ZÜBLIN Timber is involved in construction as a timber construction specialist
STRABAG subsidiary ZÜBLIN is taking the lead with ROM Technik GmbH&Co.KG in the turnkey realization of the first construction phase of the pioneering IPAI Campus in Heilbronn. The client is IPAI Immobilienmanagement GmbH & Co. KG, represented by Schwarz Immobilien Service GmbH & Co. KG from Neckarsulm.
The IPAI Campus on the Steinäcker site is a unique innovation park for artificial intelligence in Europe - a place where research, business and society are shaping the digital future together. IPAI stands for "Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence" and forms the heart of a modern AI infrastructure in Germany.
"Our involvement in the IPAI Campus is a very special project for us. With this major contract, we are underlining our expertise and capabilities in the field of high-tech buildings and making an important contribution to the further development of the European AI infrastructure. We are proud to be part of this pioneering project," says Jörg Rösler, Member of the Executive Board of STRABAG SE for the North + West segment.
A project with charisma
The overall IPAI Campus project is divided into several construction phases. The campus covers around 30 hectares and will provide space for more than 5,000 people to research, develop and apply AI technologies. The site is complemented by a daycare centre, temporary housing and a communication center that promotes exchange between science and society.
ZÜBLIN and ROM Technik are responsible for the turnkey implementation of key building components: a mobility hub at the entrance, the real-world laboratory with an open wood-hybrid construction and a sustainable high-rise building with photovoltaics characterize the innovative overall picture. The Start-up Innovation Center offers young companies flexible office space and a green oasis for creative work. The scope of services also includes a supply tunnel and a recooling plant.
Focus on sustainability and future viability
The buildings of the IPAI Campus follow a clear mission statement: technologically advanced, architecturally independent and consistently geared towards interaction, sustainability and future viability. Green areas, photovoltaic systems, rainwater management and the use of resource-conserving recycled concrete are an integral part of the concept.
