A reason to celebrate: Topping-out ceremony at Ørestad Church in Denmark
- The church is growing significantly in height, which was celebrated with a topping-out ceremony
- Start of the final construction phases in February 2026
The construction of Ørestad Church in Copenhagen is making visible progress. With its striking architecture, the church is now growing significantly in height. This progress was celebrated on 22.01.2026 with a topping-out ceremony.
The topping-out ceremony is not only a wonderful tradition and an important milestone in the construction progress, but also an expression of appreciation for everyone involved in the project. Together with around 70 participants, the Danish flag decorated with wreaths was placed on the pyramid-shaped roof construction. Among those present were ZÜBLIN A/S Managing Director Anders Medin Feldbæk, architect Jens Larsen from Henning Larsen Architects and Andreas Klein Eriksen, Chairman of the Church Council.
The construction of a church has a very special significance.
The new building extends over two levels and combines the church hall, administrative areas and a sheltered inner courtyard under one roof. ZÜBLIN Timber is responsible for the delivery and assembly of the entire supporting structure. The project on the Danish island of Amager is being realized together with the Danish ZÜBLIN subsidiary ZÜBLIN A/S.
The building is currently in the process of installing the last roof domes, which meet increased fire protection requirements. Interior work has already begun in the first areas. In the front part of the building, the façade is currently being completed before the final construction phases start in February. The church is increasingly taking shape as a future meeting place for community and life in the Ørestad district.
