On May 19, 2026, ZÜBLIN Timber welcomed the Bavarian State Minister for Housing, Construction and Transport, Christian Bernreiter, MdL, to the company premises in Aichach. The focus of the visit was the professional exchange on sustainable and serial construction methods with wood, which are the focus of the Free State of Bavaria. The direct dialog between politics and construction practice is of great importance in order to set joint impulses for the further development of the industry.

At a short reception in the office building in Aichach, Christian Bernreiter was first welcomed by Michael Stiegeler, Technical Director of Ed. Züblin AG, Ulm Directorate, and Simon Pfeffer, Technical Division Manager of ZÜBLIN Timber. Frank Ruckdäschel from the Department for Structural Building Safety and Building Standardization as well as Building Technology and Building Research was also among the guests.

In addition to information about ZÜBLIN Timber, several current projects were also presented. In addition to the "Green Center" of the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry in Landshut, the focus here was primarily on the IGEWO residential complex in Augsburg - Haunstetten. An exciting pilot project for building type e, which was built using the pioneering MOLENO® construction method. The Minister of State has already attended the topping-out ceremonies for both construction projects and was able to view them on site.

The small group was then able to gain an insight into the company's own factory as part of a production tour. Simon Pfeffer and Michael Stiegeler led the group through the large halls in which various stages of serial timber construction production are carried out. The LENO©-ADD production, which enables cost-effective and time-saving construction, was particularly exciting for the visitors.

The exciting afternoon concluded with a professional exchange with Christian Bernreiter. Various topics were discussed that concern ZÜBLIN Timber as a timber construction company as well as the Free State of Bavaria. The focus here was primarily on building type e, a concept for fast and cost-effective construction, and the further development of the serial production of timber construction elements. Both contribute to the urgent need for affordable housing in Bavaria. Current challenges and discussions surrounding multi-stage partnership-based award procedures were also addressed.

"You can feel the company's passion for building with wood," said Bernreiter, who was impressed during the tour. "Building with wood is a contribution to climate neutrality, and the building material plays an important role in serial construction, among other things. The tour of the company today has shown once again that every building material has its own raison d'être and can play to its strengths when used correctly."

The exchange was also an important impetus for ZÜBLIN Timber. Simon Pfeffer, Technical Division Manager, is satisfied: "The visit by Minister of State Christian Bernreiter was an important signal. The open dialog shows how important it is for politics and construction practice to work closely together in order to further advance sustainable, cost-effective and serial construction methods in timber construction. We are taking away important ideas from the discussion and look forward to continuing to drive forward the transformation of construction together."
