Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris
Aéroports de Paris (ADP) commissioned us to design and build the interior cladding for the 700-metre-long hall of Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The precise construction and installation of the 150 structural timber arches made of glulam and birch plywood was an enormous challenge. A total of 130 standard arches, each consisting of up to 8.50 meters in length, were manufactured at the production and construction facility in Aichach.
Aesthetics were considered down to the smallest detail. ADP was keen to enhance the aesthetics of the building even further by incorporating the natural warmth and beauty of wood while creating a fascinating counterpart to the concrete that still dominates throughout the airport.
