We were commissioned by the Calw District Office to carry out the complex timber construction work for its new extension to the existing administration building. The structurally and architecturally sophisticated new building, designed by the Stuttgart-based architecture firm 21-arch, was integrated into the existing buildings and brings together previously separate parts of the building with a generous bridge structure: Over a length of around 81 m and with a slightly diagonal course, the clear single-storey structure spans the adjacent access road and an internal access road, thus connecting the district administration office and its annexes with the technical center on the uphill side.
The particular challenge for the timber engineering team from ZÜBLIN-Timber lay in the enormous dimensions of the required glulam truss girders, which could not be pre-assembled in the factory due to their size. In addition to the truss girders, ZÜBLIN Timber installed LENO® floor, ceiling and façade elements in the bridge structure.
