Einhard School, Seligenstadt
Built in the 1970s, the Einhard School in Seligenstadt was lacking classrooms. This space requirement was to be accommodated in an extension, which was to be realized in prefabricated construction during ongoing school operations.
The general contractor G + H opted for two timber construction systems from ZÜBLIN Timber (formerly MERK Timber). LENO® 135 mm cross-laminated timber for the interior and exterior walls and wide-span rib and box elements for the ceiling and roof. Clad areas alternate with visible ceiling undersides and perforated areas in which the roof elements meet acoustic requirements.
The ceilings span over 8.20 m. In accordance with structural requirements, large-format rib and box elements (ribs 69 x 450 mm) with factory-applied lime chippings are used for the 342 m² storey ceiling in order to meet the vibration and sound insulation requirements.
The roof elements consist of 37 x 280 mm ribs; the areas with the function of acoustic elements are perforated on the underside, sanded and fitted with acoustic fleece plus 60 mm cavity insulation. The Ripa elements are prefabricated in large format (2.5 x 8.3 m) and designed as a stiffening panel. The element joints are made by screwing the ribs together crosswise.
The building structure is clad with large-format façade panels of fire protection class B2, which are colored in various shades of red.
