Extension Rue Tlemcen, Paris (France)

During the renovation of 23 Rue de Tlemcen in the 20th arrondissement in Paris, the energy balance of the existing seven-storey building was improved and six new apartments were built on the top of the building.

For the architects Lair & Roynette, who designed the extension, the use of timber building materials was an obvious solution from an architectural, structural and thermal point of view. The social housing building in Rue de Tlemcen in the 20th arrondissement in Paris had 78 apartments. Six new apartments, totaling 300 m2, were built from wooden elements on the top of the building.
The walls of the elevated structure are made of 115 mm LENO® cross laminated timber panels with external rock wool insulation. The walls are clad with larch wood panels.
