Hotel Aqualux, Bardolino

The planners opted for modern, highly load-bearing timber construction systems made from LENO^® cross laminated timber and laminated veneer lumber. The large-format, solid cross-laminated timber elements are made from cross-bonded spruce lamellas and cut to the millimetre to form wall or ceiling elements. Up to 3.40 x 11.50 m large solid timber elements were produced from 2,500 m³ of cross laminated timber, which are extremely dimensionally stable and torsionally rigid. The thicknesses vary between 50 and 300 mm and guarantee cross-sections for every load situation. The large cross-laminated timber elements were used in the Aqualux primarily because of their slice effect, i.e. for absorbing and transferring horizontal loads.
