Hardly any other material is as closely associated with good acoustics as wood.
And rightly so: wood can be used to create concert halls that sound very good and are architecturally sophisticated. This also applies to the new interim quarters for the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, whose concert hall was built by ZÜBLIN Timber using modular timber construction. Elements measuring up to 32.9m2 and weighing up to 4.5 tons were assembled for the concert hall in Munich. For the roof alone, 60 LENO® cross laminated timber elements had to be installed. Some of these were lifted into the steel structure from the outside, while others were inserted from inside the future building. The juxtaposition of many trades in the future hall - and the associated lack of space - as well as the tight schedule were key challenges in this project.
