The use of wood at Maggie's Oldham plays a key role in the design of the building.
There is hope, humanity, grandeur and warmth in wood. Maggie's Oldham is the first permanent building to be constructed from sustainable Tulipwood cross-laminated timber.
All walls and roofs are visibly textured, creating a fine natural wood finish inside. The Tulipwood cross laminated timber has been carefully crafted to highlight its natural beauty - its fine, colorful surface resembles a piece of furniture rather than a building material. The slatted ceiling was made from leftover wood from the cross laminated timber production, so there is no waste.
