School, Erfurt

In this project, ZÜBLIN was the general contractor for the turnkey extension of the Thuringian Community School 6 in Erfurt Hochheim. A special feature of the new building is the MOLENO® modular timber hybrid construction method developed by ZÜBLIN. The state capital of Erfurt expected time and cost benefits from this. Above all, the punctual completion and availability for school operations after a short construction period were decisive factors in favor of this construction method.

The building is trend-setting in terms of environmental compatibility and sustainability, as the load-bearing exterior walls are made of LENO® cros laminated timber. In comparison, the conventional concrete design would have resulted in a 70% higher global warming potential and a correspondingly higher CO2-equivalent during shell construction.
