"Sophien-Carrée" in Karlsruhe

A new highlight has been created in the green quarter of Karlsruhe's Weststadt district: A modern community center, a kindergarten and around 150 rental apartments have been built on the "Sophien-Carrée" site.
A particular focus: wood as a building material. Together with our colleagues from ZÜBLIN Karlsruhe, we built three apartment buildings with two to five-room apartments. Our timber frame construction and LENO® cross laminated timber elements were used - complemented by stylish timber façades. Wood also sets accents in the interior: visible wooden ceilings create a warm and inviting living ambience.

However, the project had its challenges: The cramped inner-city space called for creative solutions and the changeable weather presented its own conditions. Our team and the weather protection concept overcame these hurdles with flying colors.
