State Gallery, Stuttgart

As part of the Stuttgart 21 infrastructure project, the Staatsgalerie light rail station was rebuilt and adapted to the future traffic layout.

The light rail station was designed by Christoph Ingenhoven. A distinctive feature is the open shell roof, the design of which echoes that of the neighbouring through station in the Stuttgart 21 project. The station and the tunnel connections were constructed using the cut-and-cover method; individual construction sections were built beneath temporary bridges or under covers on bored pile foundations. As was the case with Stuttgart 21 Central Station, ZÜBLIN Timber was responsible for the planning and implementation of the project-specific timber formwork for the complex concrete components.
