An important milestone has been reached with the topping-out ceremony for 54 new apartments in the Haunstetten district of Augsburg. The construction project is considered a pilot project for building type e and is based on an innovative timber hybrid construction method.
The traditional topping-out ceremony was celebrated on the construction site on 5 March 2026 in perfect spring weather with around 40 people in attendance. Among the guests was Christian Bernreiter, Bavarian State Minister for Housing, Construction and Transport. In addition to the client, representatives of the architectural firm, the building contractors ZÜBLIN Augsburg and ZÜBLIN Timber, as well as representatives of the Technical University of Braunschweig, who are providing scientific support for the pilot projects of building type e, were also present.
IGEWO GmbH & Co. Wohnungsunternehmen KG from Munich is building a total of six residential buildings on the estate. The construction project is based on the MOLENO® timber hybrid construction system. Around 2,500 square meters of prefabricated LENO®-ADD exterior walls are being used. The façade elements were prefabricated in series at the ZÜBLIN Timber factory and are then assembled on site.
Final spurt in the timber construction work
The timber construction work is already nearing completion. The last LENO®-ADD exterior walls will be erected on site at the beginning of March. This will be followed by only minor remaining timber construction work. Overall completion of the residential buildings is scheduled for the end of 2026.
