ZÜBLIN wins TOP 100 innovation competition: Personal recognition from award mentor Ranga Yogeshwar

Ranga Yogeshwar congratulated ZÜBLIN Timber GmbH on its triumph in the TOP 100 innovation competition with a personal video address today, Friday. The science journalist also paid tribute to the achievements of all of this year’s TOP 100 companies during a joint online conference celebrating the TOP 100 finals, which had originally been planned as an in-person event. Ranga Yogeshwar is “mentor” of the TOP 100 innovation competition, which was held for the 28th time this year. In the scientific selection process, ZÜBLIN Timber performed particularly well in the category “Climate of Innovation” in Size Category C (more than 200 employees).

According to the TOP 100 company portrait published on the occasion of the award (excerpt):

A high level of internal transparency, top-quality dual education with apprenticeships for vocational school students, a training academy run by the parent company, close contact with research institutions and universities – ZÜBLIN Timber does a lot to make timber construction attractive for new recruits. The climate of innovation is defined by flexibility and freedom of action. “Of course, it’s not just about coming up with any old ideas, but about making suggestions that have an immediate relevance to our core business. Often, problems repeatedly occur at a certain point of our organisation. In order to solve such systematic issues, practical relevance is essential,” says Managing Director Christian Scholz.

The company’s idea management has a two-pronged structure. On the one hand, there is lean management, which helps to reduce waste and consistently identifies potential for improvements in the operating business. On the other hand, all employees can make suggestions and, via an internal information tool, give colleagues from other departments positive feedback or constructive criticism. The important thing is that the company documents its reaction and response to such comments and suggestions.
